"Nature provides a free lunch, but only if we control our appetites." -- William Ruckelshaus, first EPA Administrator
Fingers crossed. I just emailed my editor the article I've been working on this past week. I hope she likes it. Writing has always been such a stretch for me. Despite being on the high school newspaper and attending journalism camps for several summers, I never had much faith in my ability to write. Yeah , I know, its rather an ironic comment coming from a blogger. The confidence didn't occur until my mid-twenties in graduate school. I was writing 4-5 page papers a week for one class while keeping up with a full academic load and a part-time job. I had to write with confidence because any other emotion would have immobilized me. Write from the heart, read, edit, write some more.
I had tremendous fun writing this particular article. If accepted, it will go to print and be on national newsstands in April. What made this article such a joy were all the people I interviewed. Dedicated artists, designers and environmentalists who were passionate and articulate with a great sense of humor. These are people with whom you want to pull up a chair, pour a cup of coffee and chat for hours over your knitting.
I won't give you the details. You will have to wait for the article to be published, but one design pair I interviewed are affiliated with this organization. Enjoy!
