As featured on LIVE at CHA Winter 2013 - Knitted Shell and Ombré Skirt
January 21, 2013
Mary Lawrie and I created one of the garments Elena Lai Etcheverry wore for Charity Wings' LIVE at CHA. During the event, Elena interviews designers and companies about their new projects and products live online. Viewers get sneak peeks and can purchase raffle tickets for fantastic giveaways. All money earned goes to charity. It is really an amazing win-win for all involved.
Here she is wearing our garment while interviewing Joe Rotella. Don't you just love Joe's contribution to the Charity Wings auction for breast cancer research!

I knit the shell from the Lion Brand Yarn's Vanna's Glamour® yarn. Using the same yarn but in different colors, I embroidered branches and added a few crocheted dogwood flowers. Around the collar and in the center of the flowers are some very sparkly beads from Connie's Crystals. I will be writing up the pattern and posting it in my Etsy store Enjolive with 75% of the proceeds going to Charity Wings. I will make an announcement once it's ready.
Mary loves the challenge of creating with upcycled materials. She used an old jersey bed sheet to make the skirt, dyed it obmbré using Tulip's Tie Dye Kit and then added a sprinkling of sequins using Aleene's Fabric Fusion glue. As the sequins are lightweight, the skirt has this wonderful drape. It moves beautifully as one walks with dashes of sparkle. Gorgeous! I am hoping Mary will sell either the pattern or custom kits on her Etsy store which currently features fun upcycled yarns.
